Ecosia's Debut in The Gambia with HappyFarm Pioneering Change

In a significant step and historic milestone towards global environmental conservation, we are proud to announce Ecosia's first ever project expansion into The Gambia through our HappyFarm programme. This partnership marks a pivotal moment for both Ecosia and The Gambia as we embark on a journey to enhance farmlands and make our planet greener.

Ecosia, a renowned search engine with a mission to make the world greener and fight climate change, has already planted millions of trees in deforested areas around the world through its commitment to reforestation. This partnership is a remarkable synergy between our shared values and commitment to environmental conservation. Ecosia's focus on tree planting aligns seamlessly with its broader global mission. Trees are nature's own carbon sequestration technology, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.

The partnership with Ecosia will restore up to 40,000 trees in rural communities in The Gambia, enhancing the environmental restoration efforts of The HappyFarm programme.

Often referred to as the 'Smiling Coast of Africa', The Gambia is a small West African nation known for its vibrant culture, welcoming people, and stunning natural landscapes. But it's also a nation facing unique challenges. With a population of around 2.5 million, The Gambia is a relatively small country. It doesn't have the vast natural resources that larger countries often rely on for economic growth.

It's a place where resilience, community and sustainable practices are not just ideals, but essential aspects of daily life. One year ago, HappyFarm decided to launch its project to restore 2,400 trees on farmland, promote regenerative agriculture and impact the lives of farmers.

HappyFarm and its mobile app teaches smallholder farmers regenerative farming practices and connects them to the carbon market and other initiatives like Ecosia. It does this at a fraction of the cost of traditional projects. The HappyFarm app is designed for illiterate audiences and uses our ambassador system to support farmers.

The mobile app is a game changer in the world of agriculture. It gives local farmers access to a wealth of knowledge and resources right at their fingertips. Through the app, farmers can access e-learning videos created by agricultural experts. These videos cover a wide range of topics, from modern farming techniques to sustainable practices. It's an educational revolution that empowers farmers to make informed decisions and optimize their yields while minimizing their impact on the environment.

One of the key benefits of our mobile app is its scalability. Traditional methods of disseminating knowledge can be slow and limited in reach. With the HappyFarm app, however, we can disseminate valuable information to a wider audience in a shorter period.

This means that, by joining forces with Ecosia, we at HappyFarm are stepping up our efforts, harnessing the power of the internet for positive environmental change, promoting regenerative farming practices, and fostering knowledge-sharing through our mobile app, we envision a future where every search made on Ecosia, and every lesson learned through the HappyFarm app is a step towards a healthier planet.

The way forward

Our partnership with Ecosia marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards a more regenerative future. Using the FMNR technique, we will work tirelessly together to revive more trees, restore more land, and foster a sense of environmental responsibility in our community.

In the spirit of unity, for the good of the environment and knowledge sharing, we anticipate a future where every click, every crop planted, and every lesson learned is a step towards a greener and more resilient world. Together we can make a significant impact.

Stay tuned for updates on our collaborative efforts and the impact we are making together.
